The day the “Red Rain” fell on the Station Fire in La Canada, CA. is one I’ll never forget! There were helicopters and Orion P3 tankers everywhere - and then the DC-10 Super Tanker passed 500 feet overhead and dropped 12,000 gallons of Fire retardant over a one mile stripe! These hills were burning directly above a densely packed neighborhood - the neighbors didn’t object to a Big Jet that day!
